Almaas University is a pioneer university that came into existence to enhance capacities in natural resources development

Almaas University, located in Mogadishu, Somalia, is a specialist, unique and non-state owned university that deals and pioneers with the education and research on natural resources, their sciences, their engineering applications, their management and governance. The natural resources of Somalia include minerals and mining engineering, petroleum science and petroleum engineering, water resources and water engineering, energy resources (uranium, lignite, coal, wind and solar). The fields of research and learning also include the environment: land, water and air. The aim at the university is to seek to enhance the responsible development and use of Somalia’s natural resources and their optimum management, including governance.

Almaas University is a pioneer university that came into existence to enhance capacities in natural resources development and help or take part to alleviate people out of poverty. Though Somalis are not rich in monetary scale, the natural resources of the country are a possible source of income, if managed very well. The natural resources of the country include water resources, mineral, petroleum and energy resources, marine and bush-land resources (pastures for livestock). This university builds the capacity of the Somali students in order to explore and discover, then assess and develop and produce the natural resources. It all begins with the science of the natural resources, the engineering and technology to produce and manage the products with sound management concepts, benefiting the people and their state, companies whether service providers or producers.
